The genus Nissolia contains 13 species. Nissolia is closely related to Chaetocalyx, which also contains 13 species; Together, these two genera appear to represent a unique loss of nodulation within the dalbergioid clade of the legumes. Nissolia schottii is native to México and the southwestern United States. Unlike most legumes, it is a climbing liana. It was also known as belonging to the only clade that lost nodulation in the Papilionoidae legumes. DNA was collected from young leaves,a one-year old plant, and frozen in liquid nitrogen. We sequenced the genome to a depth of approximately 305X. The assembled scaffolds of high quality sequences total 466MB, with the contig and scaffold N50 values of 20kb and 179kb respectively. We identified 36,369 protein-coding genes with a mean length of 1.211kb.
